World Conflict and Peace was another class that I took as extra-credit counting towards my MLO 2 Culture course. Like Intro to Sociolinguistics I took this course in Spring 2013. This course studied Japan’s rise of militia during the 19th and 20th centuries, and the aftermath of WW2. This class was interesting in a way that it was aspects of Japan that I had never studied before, but I feel like I didn't learn as much as I possibly could have. I found the teachers way of teaching difficult to agree with since most of what he did was had the students present on a certain war instead of talking about them himself. That being said, I found a lot of Japanese exploits in this field to be very interesting, but I also found the aspect of Japanese push to create world peace also incredibly interesting, and though I thought the class could have gone over this a lot more, it didn't. I still learned a lot about Japan’s military that I didn't previously know, so I feel this class wasn't a waste of time.
I would like to continue study more about this time period since it’s very important in Japan’s history as well as World history and future.
