WLC 400: Major Capstone:
Course description:
Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also assemble a Graduation Portfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese, Spanish and World Languages and Cultures majors. (Offered spring semester.) (Credit/ No Credit Available)
Course Reflection:
I took WLC 400 during spring 2014 to meet the university learning requirement. This course was designed to allow us to
work on graduation requirements such as capstone and this graduation portfolio. For a good amount of the term both the
Japanese students and the Spanish students were in the same class working on their graduation requirements. This was cool
because if we needed ideas or help on on capstones we could listen to a wide variety of students ideas about finding ideas. I
think the most useful part of this course was the fact that it was designed to give us significant amount of time to work on our
capstones. Although, the fact that we were given time to work on our portfolios was something that most of us should have
taken more seriously. As for the work I completed, please see the Capstone Page and also this portfolio was one of the other
main requirements of the course. I feel that both of these assignments helped me by allowing me to think about past, present
and future activities that helped me grow, are helping me grow, and how i want to grow in the future. I feel that this website
especially it a great assignment. The graduation portfolio use to be a large binder kept in the World languages and Culture
building but now it’s a website that many people can look and, and maybe someday be persuaded to attend CSUMB. I think
that I will continue with my website after I graduated, or maybe start a blog. I feel that it is a good way to put my thoughts
and perspectives into words and think critically and learn what I actually want to do later on.
