MLO Reflection:
3.1
Through this outcome, I have become fully aware of the importance of studying a secondary culture. By studying another culture, I can learn about the similarities and differences between two entirely different cultures. Secondly, I can further understand the culture we are study is important to us as a person, and as a developing student. Studying this course helped me to realize that there are other interesting cultures beside Japanese culture. I learned that Japanese Ghost stories, and stories based out of Spain of similarities and differences. When thinking of myths, i feel that to fully understand how a culture has developed, it is important to understand the myths that that culture developed believing in. Before taking this course I didn’t believe such a thing, and for that reason I am glad that I took this course. Next, I found this MLO rather difficult to want to complete since I’m not entirely interested in Mexican-american history. Personally, I felt that offering a Chinese cultural course, or Korean cultural course would have been a nice addition; although, through this course I have developed a better understanding of Mexican-American history, and have found it to be relatively interesting. Personally, I do enjoy studying history and have found that studying Latin- American history can also be enjoyable. This, to me, is the objective of this MLO. By comparing and analyzing a culture opposite to Japanese I have learned about my interests and have gained new knowledge about the world that I live in.
3.2
Below I included my entire portfolio that I completed in this class. Within this class I read, analyzed and wrote about Mexican- american history which helped me t0 realize that any culture, no matter where it is, has some interesting aspects about it. Take, for example, Mexican-America history. Pre-history Mexico was the first to colonize the western half of the united states, which is something that we don't learn in American schools. Also, we don't learn about the the efforts that America went to acquire to the western half of the United State. All of these subject I wrote about in the numerous assignments that I included below.
