Course reflection:
I took JAPN 400, Advanced Japanese for Presentational Communication in Spring 2014 to fulfill MLO 4 Research and technology. This course specifically allowed us to perform research on our capstone topics, and also helped us with gathering data, analyzing data and Presenting that data to present to our classmates. Furthermore, by using search engines like google scholar, JSTOR and Worldcat, were able to collect scholarly articles to use as research for our projects. This course, to put it lightly, is the course that helped me graduate. I used the time in this course to create my capstone, practice it, and ultimately pass my capstone presentation on the first try. Through this course I learned the value of perseverance and also what it means to look at something critically paying attention to the small aspects such as font sizes on graphs. I still have trouble creating graphs and paying attention to little things that would make them appear more legible. I feel that this shows my characteristics of not liking to perform tedious work, so I’d really like to perform more research and pay more attention to these things in the future. I know that in the future I plan to return to graduate school, and ultimately graduate school, both of which I will probably be performing research in. Considering this, in the future when I perform my research I want to pay attention to the tedious aspects of my research, as well as keep a proper time table for getting stuff done. I feel that my procrastination and my inability to perform tedious tasks, are two really big problems and really affect my learning, so these are the two that I would like to look at and develop in the future.
